How to Train for Mount Toubkal in 8 Weeks
You don't need to be an athlete, but you do need a base. A simple eight-week plan to build the stamina and leg strength a Toubkal summit day demands.
The exact kit our guides want to see in your bag — and the heavy mistakes first-timers make. A field-tested packing list for two days to two weeks on the mountain.

Good kit makes a hard day feel easy and a cold night feel safe. After thousands of guided days on Toubkal, here is the list we actually hand our trekkers.
Sturdy, broken-in boots with ankle support are non-negotiable. New boots are the number-one cause of blisters we see, so wear them for at least a few weeks beforehand. Pack two or three pairs of proper trekking socks and a spare pair for the refuge.

Headtorch with spare batteries, warm hat, gloves, sun hat, sunglasses, high-factor sunscreen and a one-litre water bottle minimum. The pre-dawn push is the coldest hour of the trip — dress for it.
Jeans, cotton hoodies, a second pair of heavy shoes and anything "just in case" you've never used. Every kilo counts on a steep ascent.
Mule support carries the heavy kit between camps, so you only ever walk with a light daypack. Pack accordingly.
We send a personalised, season-tuned packing list with every booking. Not sure what the weather will do? Read the best season to climb Toubkal first.
